OHSRA QUEEN
Ontario High School Rodeo Association Crowns new Queen
Sixteen year old Heather Ballantyne of Orton, Ontario was crowned 2009-2010 Ontario High School Rodeo Queen at the OHSRA finals. Heather’s dream of becoming Queen is a reality for this Erin High School Senior who is an active athlete on the school wrestling and soccer teams. The competitive spirit is obvious as she competes in barrels and poles while sporting her beautiful smile and positive attitude for her team mates, friends and family.
Exposure to the rodeo scene came only five years ago for this Oakville born native as she spent many hours tuning her skills at TLC Stables in Hillsburgh, Ontario. Encouragement and support from close friends led Heather to believe in herself and find inner strength in the sport of rodeo. The result is qualifying in barrels for the High School Rodeo Nationals in Farmington New Mexico in July and representing the Province of Ontario as Queen. Heather says it’s a great feeling and she is proud to have the honour of such a task. Plans to become a dental hygienist are on the horizon following her final year of High School.
Get involved, have fun and believe in yourself is the message Heather wants to pass along to any high school student that is thinking of joining the arena of rodeo!
